Q 1:

When is my Nicor Solutions payment due?

A 1:

Your Nicor Solutions bill is due on or before the date shown on your bill stub.

  • Residential customer bills are due 21 days after they are issued.
  • Commercial customer bills are due 14 days after they are issued.

Your energy plan amount is billed on the Nicor Gas bill. You should send payment to:

What happens if my bank won't pay my check or transfer?

A 3:
If your bank returns a check, or an electronic transfer is refused due to insufficient funds, an additional charge of $25.00 may be added to your account.  Please be aware that we don’t resubmit checks for a second attempt at payment.

How can I change my name and/or mailing address?

You can easily change your name and/or mailing address when you send a payment. Just place a mark in the check box above the address shown on the payment slip that comes with your statement, then turn the slip over and add your new address information. Be sure to include your payment slip when you send in your payment.

What is the difference between Nicor Solutions and Nicor Gas?

A 10:

Nicor Solutions (“NiSol”) is not the same company as Nicor Gas Company, and the Illinois Commerce Commission (“ICC”) does not regulate NiSol’s prices. You do not have to buy products or services from NiSol in order to receive the same quality of service from the gas utility. Nicor Gas does not set the price you pay for such service nor does the ICC regulate the prices offered by NiSol.

What is the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program?

The Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program allows natural gas users to know exactly what their gas bill will be for a 12-month period, no matter how much gas prices or the weather change.

Q 2:

When will I receive my first bill from Nicor Gas with my Fixed Bill amount?

A 2:

After you enroll, you'll receive at least one more utility bill, which you will be responsible for paying, and will become active in the Fixed Bill program the first meter reading after Nicor Gas accepts you into the Fixed Bill program.

What is a fixed price plan and how is that different from Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill?

Fixed price plans allow gas users to lock in a price per therm for their natural gas. However, fixed price customers may still have wildly fluctuating gas bills due to variations in usage, principally caused by unpredictable weather.

How is my monthly Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill quote calculated?

Your Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill quote is customized for you based on various factors such as your home's use of natural gas in the past, gas prices, and weather. Your monthly amount includes all natural gas-related costs, program administration fees, and taxes.

How is the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program different from the Nicor Gas Budget plan?

A 5:
With the Nicor Gas Budget plan, your budget payment may be adjusted periodically if your actual gas bills differ from your budget payment due to changes in gas prices and weather conditions, which can vary dramatically. Our programs have no periodic adjustments, true-ups or credits at the end of 12 months, regardless of changes in gas prices or the weather. Your Fixed Bill plan amount may be lower or higher compared to what you might have paid under the Budget Plan.

Won't my Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount increase if the weather is extremely cold or gas prices escalate?

A 6:
No matter how cold it gets or how high gas prices may climb, your Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount is guaranteed not to change for 12 months. The same is true if the weather is warmer or gas prices decrease; your Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount remains the same.

How long does the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill agreement last?

The program covers 12 consecutive months from the date that your last utility bill has been issued.

What happens if my natural gas usage changes?

A 8:
The Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program is designed to protect you from changes in gas prices and usage due to the weather. Using more or less gas because of weather fluctuations is covered under the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program. However, if you use an unusually high amount of natural gas due to non-weather related reasons such as adding a room, or a heated swimming pool, Nicor Solutions reserves the right to reassess your Fixed Bill payment amount or program eligibility.

If you use less gas then you had in the past due to home improvements or other efforts you've taken to reduce gas usage, your more efficient use of natural gas will be beneficial to you when we determine your Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount for next year.
Q 9:

If I move to a new address, will my Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount automatically carry over?

A 9:
No. You could be moving into a larger or smaller home that uses more or less gas than your previous home. For a new Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill quote, call us at 1-888-636-1789. We can enroll you in a new Fixed Bill program, if you are eligible. You will be responsible for the final Fixed Bill charge at your current residence.

Will my quoted amount always be what I pay on my gas bill?

A 10:
Your Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount, which covers all natural gas-related costs, including monthly customer charges, gas supply costs, program administration fees and taxes, will not change. If you decide to enroll in Nicor Home Solutions warranty programs or if you are subjected to late payment charges, your actual payment amount will be different from your Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount.

Can I prepay my Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount?

A 11:
Yes. Please call 1-866-369-0911 for your prepayment amount. Your balance will be considered a credit on your Nicor Gas account and earn interest while the amount is drawn down monthly over the course of the year. However, if you still have an outstanding balance remaining on your utility account, any credits will be applied to the utility balance first.

Is this a savings plan?

A 12:

You may or may not save money on this program compared to traditional utility service. The Fixed Bill program is designed to protect you from fluctuating gas prices and unpredictable weather. Therefore, even if gas prices go up during the next 12 months or we have colder than normal weather, your monthly payment will not change.

On the other hand, if the winter weather is warmer than normal and/or gas prices go down, your payment will not change. While no one can predict the future, our customers will always have the peace of mind of knowing their monthly amounts are protected and will not change during the year, no matter what conditions prevail.

Will I save money on the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program compared to what I would have otherwise paid Nicor Gas?

A 13:

You may or may not save money on this program compared to traditional utility service. The Fixed Bill program is designed to protect you from fluctuating gas prices and unpredictable weather. Therefore, even if gas prices go up during the next 12 months or we have colder than normal weather, your monthly payment will not change.

What happens at the end of my 12-month Fixed Bill agreement?

Before your 12-month Fixed Bill agreement ends, we will forward your new Fixed Bill amount for the next 12-month period, along with your new terms and conditions.

  • If you accept the amount and terms, do nothing and your 12-month Fixed Bill amount will go into effect automatically under our then-current plan terms.
  • If you choose not to renew, call us at 1-866-369-0911 within 30 days of the postmarked date of the notice of your new amount and terms to cancel your agreement.

Nicor Solutions reserves the right to not renew your Fixed Bill agreement.

Q 15:

Can I cancel my Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill agreement prior to the end of my 12-month term?

A 15:

Agreements vary based on such factors as time of enrollment or inclusion of special offers.

  • If your agreement contains a cancellation fee, please note that there is no cancelation fee if you cancel your agreement within 10 business days of the issue date of your first company bill.
  • If you terminate this agreement or otherwise cause the termination of this agreement after the 10-business-day period, a termination fee of $50 may apply.

You will be responsible for the period of time you are on the plan. Be sure you understand your cancellation terms before you enroll.

Can I be with an alternative gas provider and request to go on the Fixed Bill program?

If you are with an alternative gas provider and decide to enroll in the Fixed Bill program, you agree to cancel your contract with your current provider. Prior to enrolling in the Fixed Bill program, you should review your current alternative gas provider contract or contact your current supplier to determine if they have any cancellation fees.

What price per therm do you use to calculate the Fixed Bill amount?

The Fixed Bill Plan does not have a price per therm and comparing it to a usage-billed plan isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison.  When we determine your Fixed Bill amount, we use a proprietary formula that looks at several factors including but not limited to your historical gas usage, gas market conditions, and weather conditions.  Your Fixed Bill amount will include all natural gas related costs, administration fees and applicable taxes unlike a plan that is based on a price per therm.  The Fixed Bill Plan lets you know with certainty what your total gas costs will be for the 12-month plan term.

What is the difference between Nicor Solutions and Nicor Gas?

Nicor Solutions (“NiSol”) is not the same company as Nicor Gas Company, and the Illinois Commerce Commission (“ICC”) does not regulate NiSol’s prices. You do not have to buy products or services from NiSol in order to receive the same quality of service from the gas utility. Is the gas supply purchased through Nicor Solutions secure and reliable?

Nicor Solutions is not  a gas supplier. You will still purchase and receive your gas from Nicor Gas. During the term of your Fixed Bill plan, Nicor Solutions will pay Nicor Gas for all of your natural gas-related costs, program administration fees and taxes, and the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill amount will be charged to you on your same monthly Nicor Gas statement.

Who can earn miles as part of the SkyMiles partnership between Nicor Solutions and Delta?

All Nicor Solutions customers in good standing who are also SkyMiles members are eligible to start earning miles.

How many miles will I earn?

A 2:

When you pay your bill, you’ll earn two miles for each dollar spent for the Fixed Bill amount found on your monthly utility bill, excluding charges for other products and services such as warranty service charges, and one-time charges such as late fees. SkyMiles Medallion® members will be awarded one additional mile for eligible charges.

Q 3:

When will my miles be posted to my Delta SkyMiles account?

A 3:

Bonus miles will be awarded after 30 days of continuous active gas service with Nicor Solutions. Ongoing/monthly and bonus miles will be posted to your SkyMiles account up to 4 weeks after each monthly bill date, provided you remain in good standing in the SkyMiles program.

I am not a Delta SkyMiles member. How do I become a Delta SkyMiles member so I may start earning miles as a Nicor Solutions customer?

It's easy to sign up for Delta SkyMiles. Simply visit delta.com/skymiles.

I have multiple Nicor Solutions accounts. May I earn miles for each Nicor Solutions account?

Yes. Simply advise the customer care representative of your Nicor Solutions account numbers. You may elect to have each of your accounts distributed to a single or multiple SkyMiles accounts as you wish.

May I direct the miles that I earn through Nicor Solutions to someone's SkyMiles account other than my own?

A 6:

Yes. Simply call our Customer Care Center toll-free at 1-888-414-2191.

Do the miles earned through Nicor Solutions count toward Medallion status as Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs)?

If my Nicor Solutions miles are not posting to my SkyMiles account who do I contact?

Please contact us at 1-888-414-2191 and we will check on the status. However, if you have recently signed up, please keep in mind that bonus miles will be awarded after 30 days of continuous active gas service under the Nicor Solutions Fixed Bill program and it may take up to 4 weeks after each monthly bill date before ongoing and bonus miles start posting to your SkyMiles account, provided you remain in good standing in the SkyMiles program.

Q 10:

If, at the end of my contract term, I choose another gas service plan with a Nicor Solutions affiliate that offers the Delta SkyMiles program, do I need to re-enroll with the SkyMiles program to continue to earn monthly miles?

Your participation in the Delta SkyMiles program will continue without interruption as long as you have active service and are current with your bill payments. You also consent to the sharing of your account information with that affiliate so you can continue to earn miles.
